Dechlorination involves the removal of residual chlorine from disinfected wastewater prior to discharge into the environment. While the use of sulfur dioxide is the most common, other dechlorination alternatives include carbon adsorption, sodium metabisulfite, sodium bisulfite, and hydrogen peroxide.
